Philanthropic Planning in 2025

This article was provided by the Institutional Asset Management Team at PNC Bank, a SoCalCGP Sponsor.

Last call for a full deduction… Act now!

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act that became law on July 4, 2025 will change some of the rules for charitable tax deductions starting in 2026. As a result, some donors may be motivated to make larger donations by year-end 2025, before these changes go into effect. PNC Institutional Asset Management has created a short guide to help you communicate with donors to encourage donations before year-end.

Itemizing deductions
For 2025, charitable contributions are only deductible as itemized deductions. Beginning in 2026, if itemizing, charitable contributions will be deductible only to the extent that they exceed 0.5% of the taxpayer’s contribution base (the floor). For example, with a contribution base of $200,000, the first $1,000 of charitable contributions would not be deductible. Also, for those who pay income tax at the highest marginal tax rate (37%), in 2026, itemized deductions will be limited to 35 cents on the dollar (as opposed to 37 cents).

Featuring multiple tracks, nationally recognized keynote speakers (to be announced soon), and ample networking opportunities, the program delivers both inspiration and practical takeaways you can use immediately. Attendees also earn CE credits (CSPG, CFRE, MCLE, CAP, IPA, CFP, and more), making this a clear return on investment for you, your organization, and the donors and clients you serve.

For those traveling from outside the region, the conference is also an excellent chance to combine professional development with donor and client visits in Southern California.
